According to SABTA news agency report, Ali-Asghar Moonesan and Parham Janfeshan, accompanied by the governor-general and a board of provincial authorities, visited the operational processes of restoring this historical building, which has been entrusted by the Revival Fund to the private sector in 1395.
After restoration, this historical caravanserai is going to be utilized as a residential and amusement facility.
Payam Caravanserai in Marand is one of the most famous caravanserais in Azerbaijan that have been prosperous during Safavid and Mongols reign. This historical building is located in one of the villages of Marand, 35 Km away from Tabriz.
After reviving Payam Caravanserai in Marand, Iranian and foreign tourists who travel across Bazargan Boundary can use this historical caravanserai.
This caravanserai contains a high entrance, Maqsurah and octagonal central courtyard, providing the entrances for side halls (stables). The building is rectangular, 62 meters long and 48 meters wide, and includes four circle towers with a diameter of 7 meters on each angle.
This building has been delegated to the private sector for 16 years, 23 months of which has been spent on restoration.
